Pathway is a study guide for the U.S. naturalization civics test, published by Emerge Labs, LLC. It is not affiliated with USCIS or any government agency.
What stays on your phone
Pathway has no accounts and no server of its own that stores your information. These are kept only on your device:
- Your answers, progress, streak, starred questions and practice test history
- The state you chose and the name of your U.S. representative
- Whether the daily reminder is on
Deleting the app deletes this information.
If you enter a ZIP code to find your congressional district, the lookup happens on your phone. The ZIP code is not saved, and it is not sent anywhere unless you also choose the street address lookup described below.
What is sent elsewhere
- Street address (optional). If your ZIP code crosses district lines and you choose to enter a street address, the address and ZIP code are sent once to the U.S. Census Bureau’s public address service to find your district. Pathway does not save the address.
- Purchases. The one-time unlock is processed by Apple. RevenueCat, our purchase provider, receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase status so the unlock can be restored. We never see your payment details.
- Ads. If you choose to watch an ad for extra questions, the ad is served by Google AdMob. The first time, your iPhone asks whether Pathway may track your activity across other companies’ apps and websites. If you allow it, Google may use your device’s advertising identifier to show personalized ads. If you decline, Pathway requests non-personalized ads only, and the ad still plays. You can change this in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. Either way, Google may collect device information such as IP address and device identifiers to deliver and measure ads. See Google’s privacy policy.
- Current officials. The app downloads a public file of current office holders. This request does not include any information about you beyond what any web request carries, such as IP address.
This website
This site does not use cookies or analytics. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP address and pages requested.
Notifications
If you turn on the daily reminder, it is scheduled on your device. Nothing is sent to us.
Children
Pathway is not directed to children under 13.
Changes
We will update this page if the policy changes.
